Job Description:

This position is responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients on the inpatient psychiatric unit. The therapist will complete an initial evaluation, gather input from the patient#s significant others, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop a person centered treatment plan. Therapeutic interventions include individual therapy, family sessions, and group therapy. Case management responsibilities focus on awareness of and appropriate utilization of financial resources, planning aftercare, and assisting the family to locate appropriate placement if needed. The therapist will maintain current independent licensure and credentials, will participate in continuing education, and will comply with unit specific competency requirements. Minimum Education/Training: Graduation from an approved and accredited school with a Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology. Registration/Certification or License Required: Current Michigan Certification. Independent Practice Certification in area of expertise (LMSW, Substance Abuse, CAC, LPC). Training: Current Michigan Certification. Independent Practice Certification in area of expertise (LMSW, Substance Abuse, CAC). Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider Certification (or completed within 60 days of hire) Preferred Experience: 2 years experience with adult mentally ill individuals in an acute care setting. Physical Requirements: Lift 10 lbs. box overhead. Lift and carry 15 lbs. Push/pull 20 lbs. cart. Occasional standing, walking. Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling. Continuous sitting. Continuous keyboard use. Continuous talking, hearing. Other Requirements: Computer literacy.
