Job Description:
This role is responsible for managing the applications development
team within Supply Chain Transportation, it includes leading the
full life-cycle planning, development, implementation,
post-implementation and on-going operations of information systems
and applications within Transportation Management Systems. Develops
standards, policies, procedures, and practices to ensure systems,
services and applications meet company needs, and maintains the
documentation for department project specifications, project plans,
timelines, etc.
Here's what you'll do:
- Manage the application development activities to include
analysis, design, and development of new systems or revisions to
existing systems.
- Plan and lead the full life-cycle planning, development,
implementation, post-implementation and on-going operations of
information systems and technology within assigned area.
- Work with internal IT teams, external vendors, and
cross-functional business partners, as necessary.
- Oversee and/or participate in the requirements and cost/benefit
analysis, project schedules, cost estimates, development, and
testing for the implementation and/or maintenance of applications
systems and programs, software products, features and/or components
to meet business needs.
- Provide technical and/or project management direction to
determine feasibility and resource requirements of releases;
coordination of work on projects with other departments; planning,
scheduling, and monitoring of projects to ensure accurate and
timely completion; and ensure timely issue resolution and
communication/follow up to end users.
- Ensure effective communication of application development
projects, expectations, project schedules and budget to project
team and stakeholders.
- Manage the applications team production support response
including change management, issue resolution, after-hours support,
and disaster recovery.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Here's
what you'll need:
- Bachelor's Degree (Required) in Computer Science, Information
Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education
and/or experience.
- Eight years Information Technology applications and/or
interface design, analysis, and development experience.
- A minimum of three years' relevant experience in a similar
supervisory/management position.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading a team of IT professionals
within Transportation Management applications including
collaboration on business process design, application analysis,
design, development, and production support.
- Application management experience with Transportation solutions
like McLeod, Ortec, OmniTRACS or similar.
- Experience managing external vendor relationships and
commitments.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills; excellent
presentation skills with the ability to present technical
information to both business (non-technical) and technical
audiences.
- Must be able to develop effective working relationships with
associates at various levels of the organization and with external
customers/vendors.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making
skills.
- Demonstrated project management and effective coaching,
mentoring and leadership skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload, manage multiple
concurrent projects, manage teams, and lead through influence and
delegate assignments as business needs.
- Ability to travel occasionally (up to 20%) as needed.
