SENIOR WEBSITE ARCHITECT

Position Summary:
The CMS Architect will be part of the University Communications
Digital Strategy Team and responsible for aligning the external
Sitefinity CMS platform with the strategic website roadmap. The
Architect will develop project plans, including architectural
specifications; collaborate with university departments concerning
system and process requirements; evaluate new technologies and web
development tools; establish and maintaining standards,
methodologies, and frameworks for Sitefinity, .net and website
development; provide technical leadership for all Sitefinity
development, provide guidance related to system integrations with
other university systems and ultimately ensure the long term
maintainability of the Sitefinity CMS Platform. The architect will
assist the Director of Digital Strategy with vendor management. The
architect will mentor team members by providing guidance on current
development best-practices, maintainability techniques and will
reinforce best practice through code reviews, coaching and
training.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or a combination
of education and experience the equates to a bachelor s degree.
Four years of relevant technical experience showcasing full stack
software development skills.
Two years of experience designing enterprise solutions.
Two years of experience with CMS platforms.
Experience with unit and integration testing tools.
Experience with build tools including MsBuild.
Experience using Object Relational Mapping (ORM) tools (i.e.
NHibernate, Entity Framework, DataObjects.NET, etc.)
Experience with modern web technologies and javascript libraries
(i.e. HTML, CSS, Vue, Knockout, JQuery, Charts.js, etc.)
Experience researching and evaluating vendor solutions.
Demonstrated history of successful development of software-based
solutions.
Experience with large-scale developments with enterprise-wide
impact.
Experience with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Experience in requirements gathering techniques and models.
Current knowledge of industry software and hardware
technologies.
Advanced technical proficiency in relevant operating systems,
applications, and/or languages.
Advanced technical proficiency in application design as well as
multi- tier applications including relational databases.
Demonstrated programming and debugging skills.
Ability to provide individual and group training.
Proficiency with the .Net framework, C# and/or VB.Net.
Strong understanding of Dependency Injection Frameworks (i.e.
Autofac, Ninject, Unity, Spring.Net, etc.)
Advanced technical proficiency in SQL, T-SQL and related database
programming.
Demonstrated ability to maintain positive interpersonal
relationships with students, faculty, visitors and fellow work
associates.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and
in writing.
Experience in systems documentation.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master s degree or equivalent, preferably in a technical field.
Advanced experience and programming expertise in object-oriented
languages, scripting languages.
Proven experience designing and architecting solutions across a
variety of systems and business processes.
Proven experience providing solutions that integrate with
enterprise applications and ERP systems.
Experience with a variety of SDLC methodologies.
Advanced experience with software development, modeling, and
architecture tools, preferably Microsoft Visual Studio, Visio or
similar tools.
Experience with Sitefinity development and maintenance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Acts as technical and architectural lead on complex and
high-visibility projects and requirements gathering initiatives.
Establishes development technologies, design patterns, and
methodologies that will contribute to advancing the organizational
mission.
Mentors team members on current development best-practices and
documentation through direct reviews and training.
Evaluates user requests concerning web design and development and
provides architectural guidance for design and implementation of
the solutions.
Communicates system architecture needs to other teams responsible
for components outside the purview of the web development team.
Provides exceptional customer service to all faculty, staff,
student, and third-party partners.
Develops and tests specialized web site configurations and directs
team members on the same.
Communicates complex concepts and solutions effectively to both
technical and non-technical parties.
Provides guidance for proper access and use of university data
sources, including, but not limited to, databases, enterprise
applications, and ERP platforms.
Evaluates and recommends web development languages.
Consults with necessary individuals on campus as well as vendor
representatives.
Coordinates web design policies, procedures, and support on
campus.
Creates and maintains external web sites.
Delivers solutions to maximize the value of requested
initiatives.
Assists with purchasing specifications for development hardware and
software.
Researches, collects and organizes information concerning
university web compliance, regulations and mandates.
Analyzes present systems, procedures, and practices; recommends
changes or improvements.
Ensures Application Architecture supports the University s mission
and goals.
Translates Business Requirements into Technical Specifications.
Develops Solution Design Options, based on Business Requirements
and Enterprise Architecture.
Ensures that new solutions are designed to meet functional
requirements, while also ensuring that service qualities
(performance, scalability, extensibility), current and anticipated,
are achievable.
Manages risk identification and risk mitigation strategies
associated with the Enterprise Application Architecture.
Acts as a technical liaison with the Office of Technology
(OIT).
Performs related tasks as necessary.
