Job Description:
CFS has partnered with a growing company that's looking to add
to their Finance team. Our client is a privately held, family-owned
and operated frozen food manufacturer located in West Michigan.
They produce, package, and ship an assortment of frozen food
entrees for Private Labels and National Brands for both the retail
and food service markets.
Due to growth, our client is looking to add a Financial Analyst -
Fixed Assets and Compliance to their team! In this position you
will play a key role in driving improvement in their capital
management processes. This role will be responsible for oversight
of capital project accounting and analysis, risk management
practices and perform reporting and compliance activities related
to State grants/ incentive reporting, property taxes, audit and
tax.
Financial Analyst Responsibilities:
- Month-end journal entries and reconciliations including
quarterly fixed asset roll-forward and depreciation
calculations.
- Maintain the fixed asset subledger (SAGE), process new assets,
disposals and transfers, run various scenarios in SAGE to determine
projected depreciation, ensure system is updated with most current
assumptions. Ensure subledger is reconciled to the ledger with
appropriate entries on a timely basis.
- Liaise with project managers to budget annual capital project
spend, update spend projections, create long-range capital plans in
cooperation with divisional heads, and determine appropriate
accounting treatment for spend
- Report on budget to actuals on a monthly basis, prepare
management and board presentations.
- Support the annual budget process for Fixed Assets and Property
related items.
- Reconcile Construction in Progress (CIP), ensure all spend
qualifies as capital spend under U.S. GAAP, and capitalize projects
on a quarterly basis
- Lead implementation of ASU 842 Leases and maintain inventory of
the Company's leases
- Create and manage a formal capital acquisition process, assign
project numbers, and ensure project spend is properly
supported
- Maintain the Company's capital policy including useful
lives
- Calculate capitalized interest incurred on major capital
projects in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Provide support for audit and tax workpapers and manage cost
segregation studies with CPA firm
- Assess fixed assets for impairment and perform regular test
counts
- Perform financial analysis to determine return on major capital
projects against initial assumptions
- Assist with insurance renewal data submissions and reporting
for tax incentives
- Manage relationship with CPA performing property tax
compliance, estimate and accrue property taxes, understand various
property tax incentives including PA 198 and Ag Ren Zone
- Calculate and make estimated tax payments and review tax
filings including state franchise taxes, flow-through entity income
taxes, S Corp deposit Requirements
Financial Analyst Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business
Administration or related field
- 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint; JDE and/or
SAGE experience a plus
- Excellent analytical, decision-making and problem-solving
skills
- A passion for process improvement
- Ability to display complex quantitative data in a simple,
intuitive format and to present findings in a clear and concise
manner
- Ability to investigate, familiarize and master new data sets
quickly
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to accuracy and details
