Job Description:
What We're Looking ForResponsible for the production and
modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering
plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position is a
lead role to direct, mentor and train junior staff. Consults with
the project manager to perform research, development, calculations,
design and delivery. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and
design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity.
Leverages technical knowledge and experience to address design
related issues or concerns, working closely with the project
manager through creative problem solving, interactions with clients
and by completing tasks to meet the project schedule. Develops
conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the
project completion using current drawing and technical tools,
programs and software. As a member of the team, you will contribute
to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects
for HNTB's clients.Primary Focus Will Include:
- Responsible for the production and delivery of transportation
project reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Manages a design team assigned to a specific project task
- Manages scope, schedule, and budget of a project task
- Coordination between disciplines to ensure an integrated design
and avoid conflicts
- Serves as technical liaison with the client on project
efforts
- Serves as a design liaison during the construction of
projects
- Develop and mentor less experienced engineers
- Performs quality reviews
- Coordinate efforts of assigned team to ensure completeness and
accuracy of design within budget and on schedule
- Collaborate closely with the project manager, senior engineers
and other discipline engineersPreferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in geometric layout, roadway modeling, and project
delivery of infrastructure projects
- Experience in mentoring and developing others
- Strong delegations skills
- Experience on MDOT and County design projects
- Proficiency using Bentley design platforms
- ProjectWise and Bluebeam Revu experience
- Master's degree in Engineering
- 8 years relevant experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- INDWhat You'll NeedEssential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the planning and distribution of
discipline-specific work, and adherence to the schedule and budget
on projects.
- Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal
generation.
- Assists with the development of scope of work and level of
effort for projects and/or assignments within a discipline.
- Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team's work
within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall
project objectives.
- Coordinates technical aspects of the project with client
counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the
discipline.
- Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline
projects.
- Provides input on recruitment, hiring, development, and
retention of staff, including developing a plan for staff
reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and
succession.
- Responsible for coordinating schedules and approving
timecards.
- Aids in establishing employees' objectives and provides
feedback from clients while coaching and mentoring their team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant
experience
- Master's degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant
experience
- PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experienceAdditional
