Greater than 30% of the more than 14,000 school districts throughout the US today now utilize an educational staffing company to meet their daily needs for substitute teacher placement. The mounting cost of government compliance, safety and security, and increasingly complex payroll and HR provisions are the key trends driving this rapid acceleration. School districts today are finding they can achieve significant cost savings and operational efficiencies if they elect to outsource these HR placement business processes.

Further, as technology becomes more pervasive in K-12 public education, districts are using staffing companies to locate and fill thousands of vacancies each day through automated systems and processed workflow. At any point in time teacher absences can quickly strike a national workforce of 3.6M teachers, challenging districts to quickly locate qualified and credentialed substitutes among a database pool of 1.5M educators.

As a result, this has quickly become a billion dollar plus services business within the multibillion-dollar US K-12 segment. And we at EDUStaff, headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, are among the leaders in this space. Driven by our growth and unmatched focus on customer service and support, today EDUStaff is seeking an Executive Sales Director to join the team and lead a multi-state sales organization.

EDUStaff is a 10-year old private company with a special team culture focused on customer care and doing the right thing for our school district partners, and each other. Our entire growth has been funded through the success we have enjoyed supporting and servicing our district customers across 9+ states. Unlike other firms, with EDUStaff there is no private equity or VC investment and none is anticipated. This new people-oriented sales leader will gain the independence, flexibility and freedom to drive their team as a key accountable executive of the firm, on an equal level with Operations, Service, HR and Finance. The position offers substantial growth within a team that encourages creativity and will immediately become a key part of a highly successful company. The position reports to the President.


* Lead a multi-state professional sales organization, customer-focused and relationship-based

* Develop the national structure, business and sales practices necessary to achieve sales targets quarterly and annually

* Communicate effectively with the team at all levels, while demonstrating strong problem-solving skills

* Effectively recruit, coach and mentor sales talent in remote offices, supporting a national expansion of field capabilities

* Work in trusted partnership with other EDUStaff team executives, collaborating with them on shared business success

* Grow an understanding of the K-12 space and the specific value propositions within the educational staffing services market

* Demonstrate capacity to determine district needs and develop successful capture strategies

* Fulfill all CRM reporting and field requirements, developing forecasting accuracy

* Prioritize marketing and services team investments to maximize sales return

* Manage the team and department budget and expenses within agreed guidelines

* Develop a keen sense of competitive tactics, particularly in pricing and positioning

* Represent the company at external events and conferences


This position manages and is responsible for the performance of the National Sales Team Directors.

At minimum the Executive Director of Sales shall hold a bachelor s degree with experience in sales, customer relationships and management. An MBA in Business, public sector or education experience, and 10 years plus experience in management positions is desired as well.


Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Knowledge of English literacy skills in reading, writing and oral language.

This position requires average 50% travel with seasonal up to 75%.


The position offers excellent compensation, as well as upside for team performance above expectations. As a trusted member of the executive team the position will be based in Western Michigan, Grand Rapids area. For the appropriate candidate relocation will be an option for the company.
