Job Description:

Pacific Floorcare, located in Muskegon, Michigan, is a subsidiary of the Hines Corporation, designs and manufactures commercial floor maintenance equipment that are Purpose Built tools for cleaning professionals. Key products include automatic scrubbers, floor machines, burnishers, carpet extractors and vacuums. Essential duties of the Human Resource Generalist/Accounting Support include:Under the direction of the President is responsible for overseeing, guiding and monitoring day-to-day Human Resource activities of Pacific Floorcare in order to make certain that the Company's goals are furthered in a positive growth direction. The Human Resource Generalist is accountable for providing technical assistance in overall personnel administration, in carrying out miscellaneous human resource responsibilities, in supporting efforts to maintain a fair and favorable work environment for all Pacific Floorcare associates. Also supports Accounting.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Human Resources
1. Organizes and systematically structures the Human Resource Department so that all associates are fully informed of the Company's policies and procedures, benefits, and human relations practices2. Performs activities associated with personnel management functions including, but not limited to: staffing, new hire on boarding, employee relations, enforcement of policies and procedures, wage and salary compensation, benefits, company-wide activities, maintenance of personnel records, workers' compensation/safety, employee communications, career development, training, employee involvement, etc.3. Collects and analyzes HR data and makes recommendations to management.4. Must have a fundamental working knowledge of all Company Human Resource procedures and the strength of character to enforce them.5. Consults with and supports Supervisors and Managers to ensure Human Resource policies, rules, disciplinary and/or termination procedures are appropriately and consistently administered. 6. Researches and compiles personnel statistics for tracking and reporting purposes such as: employee injuries (workers' compensation), unemployment compensation, local and industry wage/salary surveys, etc.7. Coordinates recruitment, selection, and placement of potential associates on the basis of applications, interviews, reference checks, and placement for proper manpower staffing and the development of a quality workforce.8. Responsible for informing the President of any shifts in manpower requirements, potential problems on staff, changes of direction in human resource laws, and other human-resource related crises which may affect the Company.9. Responsible for the proper orientation of all new employees to the Company, explaining benefits, Right-to-Know, policies, procedures, safety rules, employee services, etc.10. Updates bulletin boards in the plant and office with current announcements, including position postings, etc. Coordinates communications, i.e., quarterly newsletter through the Hines Corporation as well as developing a good working relationship and rapport with fellow associates.11. Administers the Company's wage and salary administration programs, position descriptions, performance appraisals, compensation, etc.12. Runs training, retraining, and educational programs for the benefit of all associates.13. Communicates company programs, policies, and procedures to Pacific Floorcare's team and supports their efforts to meet established objectives.14. Plans, organizes and carries out special employee activities such as luncheons, Company picnics, and open houses, including ordering materials and arranging work force and facilities.15. Interacts with and responds to requests from Hines Corporation's Executive V.P., Human Resources as required. Assists in ensuring the corporate policies are incorporated in company activities and that communications between Pacific Floorcare and Hines Corporation are occurring.SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Accounting Administrative
16. Accounts Payable duties - reconciling expense reports and freight bills; vouchering vendor invoices and following up on related questions and issues; administering weekly check runs; following up on aged vouchers payable; maintaining W-9s for vendors17. Daily entering of cash receipts and scanning checks received to the bank18.Assist Credit department as needed with customer credit application and sales tax follow up and maintenance of recordsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
1. A BA or BS in human resource management, psychology, business administration, other related field OR equivalent.2. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources certification (SPHR) not required but desired.3. Human Resource Generalist with three to five years of human resource administration experience.4. Must be familiar with all local, state, and federal laws within the Human Resource arena.5. Must be able to work with legal principles in terms of enforcement; be familiar with current legal policies regarding employees' rights and privileges.6. Excellent interpersonal skills a necessity, plus strong oral and written communications skills. 7. Be able to handle confidential materials professionally and appropriately.8. Have a strong, fundamental understanding of computers. Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel), and Human Resource Information Solutions systems.9. Self-starter who is detail oriented, with a high level of accuracy. 10. Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and teambuilding programs desirable.11.
