Pay Range: $44,292 - $62,438DESCRIPTION:
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for administrative services functions that include Finance and Human Resource support. Primary responsibilities include maintaining the payroll, cash receipts, tracking and reconciling employee benefit statements and billings, costing and allocating payroll and benefits costs and human resources and finance database maintenance. This staff member will also be responsible for the necessary Finance and Human Resources support during the union bargaining process including implementing and administering wage and benefits changes. The staff member must maintain a high level of accuracy with data entry into the accounting and human resources software, assurance of accurate and timely reporting to internal and external sources, accuracy and timeliness of salary and fringe benefit distribution, accurate account, and program coding to the accounting systems, depositing and recording cash receipts, and accurately maintaining cash balance information. The staff member will be expected to maintain the confidentiality of all human resources information and any other administrative information.
1. Maintains cash balance and cash receiptsMaintains the organizations cash balance and maintains the cash receipts for the organization.
2. Completes bi-weekly payrollCompletes payroll bi-weekly for all staff members, includes deductions, reporting, and all other payroll responsibilities.
3. Maintains the finance and human resource databasesMaintains the payroll database, and components of the Human Resources database. Completes setup and codes additional fields.
4. Salary and benefits administration dutiesTracks and implements union salary increases and works collaboratively with Human Resources to ensure salaries are administered appropriately. Reconciles employee benefit statements and billings.

1. Associate degree in accounting or finance required.
2. Minimum of two to three years of work experience in an accounting position preferred.
3. Must demonstrate knowledge of, and proficiency in, accounting procedures and automated accounting, and human resources information systems.
4. The employee must demonstrate a high level of numeric accuracy.
5. Must possess a valid driver's license and provide own transportation to and from meetings and activities at varying work locations including all agency locations in Lake, Mason, and Oceana Counties.
