Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 or 10 hours Experience: 2 years License: Michigan Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - 2 years of experience - BLS (AHA) Description: This position is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient before and during a surgical procedure. Maintains patient safety throughout the process. The RN outlines individual care plans. Implements, evaluates, and documents care for patients during surgical procedures. Provides leadership to the operating room team. Communicates effectively with the patient and family, operating room team, supervisors, managers, and ancillary departments. Participates in staff development through preceptorship and continuing education. Responsibilities: Assesses the needs of the surgical patient and develops a plan of care specific to that patient. Implements and evaluates the plan of care during the procedure. Makes necessary adjustments while keeping patient safety a priority. Supervises activities in the room. Anticipates and coordinates any schedule changes. Assembles equipment and supplies. Assists anesthesia as necessary. Monitors the sterile field. Communicates with patients, families, physicians, operating room team, supervisors, managers, and ancillary departments.
