About the Women's Clinical Service Line Our inspired, expert team partners with women to achieve their best life through compassionate, personalized, and innovative care. Offering a full range of clinical expertise, specialized services, and advanced technology, we take pride in caring for women and their families in the communities we serve. The Women's Health clinical service line includes 6 divisions, 7 inpatient obstetric units, 18 office locations, 70 physicians, and 55 advanced practice providers serving women throughout West Michigan. Department highlights: - Butterworth Hospital, Spectrum Health's largest, is the busiest Labor & Delivery Unit in Michigan with nearly 8,000 annual deliveries. - A $9 million strategic capital investment is underway culminating in a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, ambulatory Women's Wellness Center, renovations to the C-section operating rooms and PACU at Butterworth Hospital Family Birthing Unit, and optimization of the urogynecology suite. - Our specialized midlife, menopause and sexual health practice uniquely meets the health and wellness needs of women across their lifespan. - Our dedicated, high volume division of gynecology focuses on benign and complex gynecology, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery as well as urogynecology. - A newly launched fetal care center under the division of Maternal Fetal Medicine enhances already exceptional care for high risk obstetric patients in partnership with our own Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. - Quality and safety are a top priority with dedicated physician leadership, regional involvement and a quarterly quality, safety and experience summit. - In partnership with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, our Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program provide a rigorous and diverse training environment for our 32 residents. About the role: VP, Department Chief - Women's Health We are seeking a Department Chief with experience as a proven leader in a large, integrated health system. A collaborative, transparent and inclusive leader will thrive in this role. Reporting to the Spectrum Health Delivery System chief medical officer, our women's health department chief leads a team of talented physicians and advance practice providers to achieve department and system goals. This role works in direct partnership with the vice president of women's health operations in a true dyad relationship. Clinical practice amount will be determined in conversation with the chief medical officer. Key initiatives for this role will include: - Leading and engaging the department's physicians, nurse midwives, and advanced practice providers and building a culture of safety, inclusion and accountability. - Executing the newly launched executive-sponsored comprehensive women's health strategy that meets the needs of women at all ages and stages. - Reimagining the OB experience, including growth of midwifery and obstetric services to meet consumer demand, implementing virtual health visits and new digital platforms for our patients, and alignment of this strategy across all regional practices and hospitals. - Partnering with multiple internal and external stakeholders to drive collaboration and satisfaction. - Driving quality and safety across all areas as well as fostering innovative approaches to patient-centered care and population health. - Partnering with the Spectrum Health Foundation to engage donors and build community support for our programs. Essential functions: Quality, Safety, Experience and Value - Develop, improve and sustain a culture of safety to ensure that safety remains a priority for the clinical service line, inclusive of assigned SHHG and SHMG departments - Evaluate and elevate the performance of its professional staff and care teams to meet standards of care expected by the community and of the professional societies - Create a tactical plan that aligns with our operational teams to drive best practice and reliability - Translates quality, safety, experience and value into the foundational elements of a physicians' role - Meets payer contract requirements in respect to quality incentives and requirements - Ensure that moving from volume to value is a priority - Demonstrate a high level of collaboration and influence to align goals across stakeholder groups including the system, elected medical staff and the clinically integrated network (CIN) - Lead the implementation and measure adherence of clinical pathways that are evidence-based while engaging key stakeholders, including the care team - Foster a consumer-centric approach for access, care pathways and patient education - Support academic and research programs within clinical service line People Leadership - Foster a people first culture where providers feel known, included and empowered - Responsible for recruitment of physicians and advanced practice providers with exemplary credentials and alignment with Spectrum Health values, culture and strategy - Demonstrate competence in leading change and effective communication - Engage and empower leaders by identifying and communicating clear performance expectations and providing performance feedback - Support organizational direction by demonstrating behaviors that aligns providers, clinical and operational employees - Support Epic optimization following Spectrum Health standards in clinical service line - Champion delivery system engagement strategies as well as identify opportunities to improve engagement and joy at work for both employed and independent providers Financial Sustainability - Achieve financial sustainability through program and clinical service line strategy, growth, cost containment and improved efficiencies - Partner with other areas of the system to increase standardization and appropriate use of medical supplies - Continual review of the compensation approach that aligns provider and system incentives - Effectively communicate and educate providers to ensure they understand the compensation philosophy and model, as well as our commitment to financial sustainability Education, Experience & Licensure: Medical Degree (MD or DO) and board certified in area of Women's Health - Required Minimum four year's administrative experience in a medical group setting - Required License to practice Medicine in the State of Michigan - Required, upon hire Master's Degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration - Preferred
