Facility: Butterworth Hospital - GRAND RAPIDS, MI Department: 7 South Neuroscience Services Category: Nursing Assistant Classification: Full-time with Benefits (A1) Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Performs basic skills per hospital/unit guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Neuroscience (7 South - Butterworth) - 22 beds (14 beds for our stroke unit and 8 rooms for epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU)) -Population: The primary populations served include adult patients (18 years and older) with stroke and epilepsy. Secondary populations include new onset seizures, general neurology, and medical surgical patients. ICU Patient Overflow -Orientation: Orientation is mandatory and done full time during the day Monday through Friday and the following Monday and Tuesday. -Why 7 South: Neurosciences is an exciting specialty where you learn something new every day. Each patient is unique to their symptoms allowing for the team to develop great critical thinking skills. Spectrum Health/ 7 South is West Michigan's first Level 4 epilepsy center as designated by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC). There is dynamic collaboration amongst multiple disciplines to provide safe care to patients with epilepsy while developing treatment plans that have a goal to allow for a better quality of life. 7 south is also part of the comprehensive stroke center with an established 14 bed stroke unit. There is constant collaboration with the neurovascular team in providing care to the stroke patient population. 7 South utilizes a closed staffing model. Great teamwork is essential in the acute care setting and is one of the greatest strengths of 7 south.
