Director of Project Management/EstimatingPURPOSEOversees estimating and project management for entire organization. Ensures that projects are completed on time and within budget. Complies, monitors, and analyzes score card data to arrive at job costs that are competitive and profitable. Ensures accuracy of bids. - Determines which endeavors are making a profit. Supervises and directs estimators, department managers, Sr. Project Managers, Project Managers, and associated staffs. - Travels between offices and job sites, attends meetings, meets with clients and vendors, etc. Performs other duties in support of company goals and objectives. - -RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES--- - - - - - - - Faithfully executes the business plan, achieving or exceeding planned P&L objectives.--- - - - - - - - Leads, manages, and hold the Projects and Estimating teams accountable for achieving agreed-upon commitments.--- - - - - - - - Champion and driver for team health.--- - - - - - - - Works with Vice President and CEO to Integrate all major operating functions of the business. - Ensures everyone is rowing together in the same direction. - Models the way, always working toward the greater good of the business.--- - - - - - - - Own the company operating system. ---- - - - - - - - Accountable for P&L Results.--- - - - - - - - Resolves issues effectively - seeing real problems, being comfortable with conflict, calling out the problems, and solving the problems in a practical and healthy manner. - Ensures the leadership team is healthy, functional, and cohesive.--- - - - - - - - Ensures that direct reports are truly following, and adhering to the company's core processes and operating system with consistency. - Demonstrates effective project management skills.--- - - - - - - - Dependably demonstrates a relentless obsession with values, alignment, focus, simplicity, and clarity.--- - - - - - - - Effectively collaborates with the Vice President and CEO and stays on the same page. - Maintains a high level of mutual respect with Vice President and CEO. - Realizes the unique contributions and ideas that the team has and understands the role in the company.--- - - - - - - - Confirms that all key messages are properly and consistently cascaded to direct reports. - Inherently ensures that everyone is in the know. - Verifies that a high level of effective communication exists throughout the organization.--- - - - - - - - Compartmentalize all the "stuff."--- - - - - - - - Ensures that direct reports are truly following, and adhering to, the company's core processes and operating system with consistency. - Demonstrates effective project management skills.--- - - - - - - - Focuses on consensus building efforts and strategic planning.--- - - - - - - - Develops business plan with Sr Management group and implements plan.--- - - - - - - - Monitors company performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances.--- - - - - - - - Manages score cards for accountability.--- - - - - - - - Serves as primary contact for all branch office location's Sr Project Managers. - Builds and maintains relationships with General Contractors, Business Owners, Architects, Engineers, Clients, Suppliers and Vendors. ---- - - - - - - - Oversees teams that project costs, estimates, schedules, and contracts. - Manages peer review process on estimates and bids.--- - - - - - - - Assigns projects requiring estimates and bids to estimator(s). - Assumes managerial responsibility for all projects and bids. ---- - - - - - - - Keeps projects on budget during all phases. - Works closely with PM Teams in monitoring backlog and keeping an even flow of work in all functional areas (drywall, flooring, etc.).--- - - - - - - - Identifies, recommends, and implements solutions for process improvements and champions continuous improvement efforts. - Strives to provide exceptional and professional services. Ensures that projects are successful for all stakeholders.--- - - - - - - - Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of new programs and policies. - Aware of changes to labor laws, legislation, trends, etc. ---- - - - - - - - Performs other duties as necessary in support of company goals and objectives. - Some travel is involved--- - - - - - - - Partners Estimating Team with Project Management Team to ensure smooth transitions.--- - - - - - - - Facilitate and maintain the Business Development strategy to provide consistent backlog of new and current projects.--- - - - - - - - Ensure execution of all contract documents and proper documented purchase orders.--- - - - - - - - Management of sub contractor contracts and execution process.--- - - - - - - - Excel in communication at all levels to develop and maintain good relationship with Project Owners, Architects, Suppliers and Subcontractors as well as clients (GC's) to acquire new project opportunities.--- - - - - - - - Maintains high level of communication with all Sr leadership to keep them appraised of project status, identify major risks and opportunities, discuss resources needed, or any other information necessary to assure success.--- - - - - - - - Oversee all process and score cards regarding project costs, impact events and change orders.--- - - - - - - - Oversee project budgeting and scheduling with project managers to identify any potential risks.--- - - - - - - - Oversee direct reports and assign teams to ensure all duties and responsibilities are achieved.--- - - - - - - - Reviews, analyzes, and reports project financial performance and continually makes timely market required adjustments.--- - - - - - - - Manage, supervise, and train the Estimating and Project Management Teams while focusing on their personal development.--- - - - - - - - Reports to Vice PresidentThis job description in no way implies that these are the only duties to be performed.
