Job Summary

The executive director will provide leadership for advancement for Medical Oncology with dyad partnership of the medical oncology service chief while assuming increasing operational responsibility for SHWM and regionally. Strategic direction will be provided by the VP and Chief of Cancer Health. Plans, directs and coordinates all non-clinical aspects of the Spectrum Health Medical Group assigned Department to achieve overall strategic and operational goals. Coordinates departmental strategic planning, marketing, operations, quality initiatives, regulatory compliance and system integration in collaboration with SHMG leadership team and functional support services to ensure quality of care provided to patients and families.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and achieves business goals that include NCI designation, oncology research and curated care while focusing on affordability and accessibility.
  • Works closely with independent providers to ensure Spectrum Health achieves strategic goals while assimilating working partners with a shared vision.
  • Identifies opportunities for service line growth and market capture including the development of new clinical programs and care redesign.
  • Leads patient care flow and perception initiatives to drive a patient centric organization. Ensures operating compliance with all quality and risk requirements for physician practices within areas of responsibility. Organizes, coordinates and integrates practice management systems with a particular focus on billing, staffing, office operations, information systems, management development, and marketing.
  • Provides key input into recommended structure, staffing configuration and provide input into the development of the strategic operating plan.
  • Provides alignment strategies with regional centers to ensure systemness.
  • Provides direction and support to physicians, mid-level providers, management, and associates to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure strategic alignment with system goals; facilitate coordination, collaboration and alignment with all key stakeholders including, but not limited to, hospital group, medical group, regional partners, foundation, research and education.

    Qualifications

    • Required Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent education and experience) in Engineering, Business or related field
    • Preferred Master's Degree in business, healthcare administration or related field. Preferred Doctorate.
    • Experienced in growth of an oncology center inclusive of medical oncology preferred.
    • 10 years of relevant health care experience including 10 years in a leadership role. Required
    • Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and demonstrated ability to think strategically with a thorough understanding of strategic development. Required
    • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Time management and organizational skills. Self directed. Ability to make quality, independent decisions. Analytical and strong problem solving skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions. Ability to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality. Ability to listen to others. Competency in the use of a variety of computer hardware and software systems. Required
