this Opportunity As a Conformance Engineer, you'll apply basic
engineering principles, concepts, theories, and techniques in
support of business objectives in a developing capacity and under
direct supervision. You may also provide fundamental engineering
leadership and expertise. You may conduct feasibility studies,
determine manpower and cost estimates, and develop engineering
criteria. You'll perform primary analyses to develop design options
or recommendations for structures, systems, and components. You may
also apply originality, ingenuity, and knowledge of other
disciplines in solving basic technical issues. Emphasis in your
work will be placed on your team participation, ability to plan,
and ability to achieve results on assigned projects. What You'll Do

and be an owner every day as you... Creates complex test plans to
evaluate a wide range of products for ensuring conformance to
industry standards while minimizing testing costs and time.
Performs conformity assessments, as needed, to support publishing
of declarations of conformance (for various specifications such as
BIFMA, CAL TB, etc.) Provides technical product performance
information in support of the business. Participates in the
creation, implementation, and maintenance of the conformity
assessment process for products against industry standards and
customer specific specifications. Ensures that the conformance
needs of HMI's present and potential customers are understood and
addressed within product performance criteria. Maintains and, where
necessary, updates a comprehensive set of tests and acceptance
criteria to ensure product safety, product quality and conformance
information for global markets. Ensures the validity of product
performance criteria through evaluation of marketing requirements,
customer feedback, field research, competitive product performance,
and application of experience. Applies basic supply chain cost,
value stream capabilities and economic principles. Applies learned
engineering skills to work assignments. Applies problem solving
skills and executes solutions to problems independently. Coaches
basic engineering tasks to others. Completes engineering tasks
within oversight of leadership. Follows engineering and quality
processes. Performs additional responsibilities as requested to
achieve business objectives. Seeks and receives mentoring from
senior level and engineering leadership. Seeks approval of budget
owner using appropriate request process. Takes good notes; showing

be just who we're looking for if you have... Bachelor's Degree in
Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program. 2-3 years of
professional engineering experience OR 1-3 years of specialty
engineering experience, applicable internship/co-op experience and
experience with participating and leading projects. Must be able to
assess process concepts and to determine where continuous
improvement opportunities exist. Experience with furniture testing,
measurement techniques, and related technology. Experience
assessing products and concepts and defining test methods,
acceptance criteria, and test plans to verify their
capability/conformance Experience using Microsoft Office and data
analysis applications. Must be able to communicate effectively with
people at various levels including production, engineering and
management and to be able to work well with and develop a
partnering relationship with other team members. Knowledgeable in
the use of common office automation, communication, software and
tools, Herman Miller mainframe applications and engineering related
software. Must be a skilled problem solver and be able to apply
engineering expertise to problem solving. Must be able to assess
priorities and determine course of action with minimal day-to-day
supervision and be able to anticipate, recognize, and respond
effectively to changes which affect project plans. Project
management experience may be essential for some assignments.
Knowledgeable in Lean principles and application. Must be able to
