Center, Fremont, MI is part of a global network of R&D centers.
NDC Fremont is the center of excellence for Nestle Nutrition Infant
& Toddler Meals & Drinks, working on both product and process
development. The R&D facility includes a 26,000 square foot
pilot plant and sits next to the Fremont Factory which is the
original Gerber Factory.As a Controls and Automation Engineer, the
main responsibilities will be to develop, apply and maintain
Operations Technologies (controls, automation, DMO/MES) and Digital
Manufacturing knowledge, solutions, and standards for the Nutrition
Baby Food category. In addition, you will support the factories in
the network with your specific expert knowledge, coach and support
Capex project teams and provide Technical Assistance to factories.
In this role, you will also be responsible for providing automation
support to pilot plant operations.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify, develop, and validate process control, automation and
digital solutions for newly developed processes from experiment to
industrialization.
- Lead the development and improvement of standard process
automation packages for Meals and Drinks (M&D) manufacturing
lines.
- Rollout of process control, automation and digital solutions
and related efficiency improvement initiatives such as the
Connected Factory.
- Ensure automation, control and MES/DMO standards are
implemented in capital investment projects. Support
industrialization of new production lines through to
commissioning.
- Provide accurate, timely technical support to pilot plant
operations for digital and automation tools.
- Ensure delivery of technical solutions with full consideration
for safety, health and environment.EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree and 3+ years' experience in operations in a
factory or R&D setting required. Knowledge of food
manufacturing processes a plus. Bachelors in Automation, Electrical
or Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Strong automation and controls background. Experience medium
voltage electrical power is a plus.
- Experience on the preferred PLC/HMI platforms (Rockwell /
Wonderware/Allen Bradley)
- Experience in control system application development,
commissioning, and maintenance.
- Comfortable with statistics & the ability to analyze and
summarize data and make recommendations.
- Knowledge of instrument calibration.
- Experience in using technical software systems and
applications.
- Capability to identify uses cases or opportunities where
digital technology will add value. Other Requirements
- Understands regulatory compliance & with awareness of relevant
food regulations.
- Fluent English, written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience in operation technologies.
- Critical thinking
- Project management skills, personal networking capabilities and
