Somat Engineering, Inc. (Somat) has immediate openings for environmental engineers or geologists in our Southeast Michigan offices. We are seeking energetic and personable experienced engineers and geologists who are interested in growing their career in this field. We are looking for environmental engineers and geologists that bring strong analytical skills, solution-oriented knowledge, and collaborative attitudes that seek to apply great creativity to projects. They will collaborate closely with other engineers and project managers to translate creative vision into functional designs and processes. Job Requirements:* Coordination of all technical environmental activities on assigned projects* Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate assigned phases of the engineering work in the field and office* Performing environmental site assessments for soil and groundwater and risk assessments of various exposure pathways* Develop conceptual site models of subsurface soil and groundwater conditions* Preparing for Brownfield Site Redevelopment and Documentation for Due Care and Compliance (DDCC)* Contaminated soil and groundwater cleanup and closure of sites under various state and federal regulations* Monitor field work for compliance to applicable codes, specifications, and accepted engineering practices and standards* Quality Control documentation of field and laboratory data* Attend project/progress meetings when requested* Technical teaching and mentoring of junior-level staff* Prepare proposals, cost estimates, bid letting and contracting documents* Managing and tracking project budgets* Preparation of technical reports, project specifications, and operation and maintenance manuals* Document creation with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)* Data management and graphical presentation with ArcGIS applications* Other duties as assignedThis position will require some out-of-town work assignments depending on the project requirements.Qualifications* 5 to 8 years of environmental engineering experience in the private and public sectors * BS or MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or Geological Sciences* Demonstrated experience in the environmental markets in office locations* Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) and Ultra Violet Optical Screening Tool (UVOST) experience highly preferred* Willingness to become involved in the engineering community by giving presentations and participating in societies and groups* Strong written and verbal communications skills* Experience collaborating and maintaining relationships across offices* Demonstrates motivation to modify schedule as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs* Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) preferred, but not required* Legal authorization to work in the United States required* Insurable driving record requiredSomat is a diverse group of professionals that delivers sustainable infrastructure solutions and services for a better tomorrow.
