love at home, work, and play.Position SummaryAs a Medical Records
Secretary at Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan, you will be
responsible for a variety of tasks, including collecting patient
information, issuing medical files, filing medical records, and
processing patient admissions and discharge papers. The role is
essential to ensuring that OAM is able to provide the best patient
care possible. Remaining meticulous and organized will play a
crucial part in the employee's success for this position.Essential
ResponsibilitiesGather patient demographic and personal
information.Ensure that all medical record information and
distribution is protected and kept confidential in accordance with
HIPAA laws and regulations.Issue medical files to patients,
providers, third-party agencies, etc. according to laws and
regulations.Distribute medical charts to the appropriate
departments within OAM.File all patient medical records and
information that is received as a hard copy, email, fax, etc.Ensure
all filings are accurate and organized according to protocol.Ensure
patient charts, paperwork, and reports are completed in an accurate
and timely manner.Complete clerical duties, including answering
phones, responding to emails, sorting and delivering mail, and
processing patient admission and discharge records.Assist with
departmental audits and investigations.Maintain a neat and
organized work area.Perform general tasks assigned or requested to
support the Medical Records Team.Required & Preferred
QualificationsEducation, Training, and Experience:Required:Ability
to perform repetitive tasks with minimal error rate.Familiarity
with medical terminology.Experience in MS Office and Windows based
computer applications.Preferred:Previous experience in a medical
office.Knowledge of practice management and word processing
software.Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:Strong verbal
communication skills.Ability to multi-task while remaining very
detail-oriented.Highly organized and self-motivated.Motor, Sensory,
and Physical Requirements:Ability to sit for long periods of
time.Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching
required.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (on rare occasions).Manual
dexterity required to operate modern office equipment.Must have
normal or correctible range of hearing and eyesight.
